I recently bought a starter kit and a Brupaks Almondbury Old from you. I followed the instructions exactly but after 4 days the beer in the primary fermenting vessel appears ‘flat’ no head and no signs of gases in the bubbler? Any ideas?
Generally the fermentation process should begin within 24 hours but don’t worry if it hasn’t. If the temperature isn’t up to 18C then this could cause a delay. If this is the case, add 50g of light spraymalt and stir it in, this should give it a kick start. Normal sugar will do the same job as light spraymalt. This time of year it could also be the case that it is too warm and the yeast may have died. If the above didn’t work you will need to add a packet of ale yeast along with some sugar or spraymalt. If neither of these suggestions kick start the fermentation then you could try adding a sachet of yeast nutrient to the mix. If you find that none of the above work then please get back in touch.
