Unsealed fermentor

Hi guys, I have dropped a big one I think, I checked my gravity after 10 days by putting the hydrometer in the fermenter and took my reading, the thing is I seem to have got distracted and not resealed the fermenter properly again, it completely stopped fermenting. I didn't find this strange because it had slowed down to around once every three minutes before I took my reading, I was trying to get get it down little more before bottling I'm doing a Belgian extract.

My question is has anyone done this before an still bottled and been successful or could the brew be ruined.
Cheers any suggestions appreciated.

Whilst it is best if you brew in an airtight vessel to keep any contaminants out, it is common practice not to use an airlock and instead leave the lid loose to let any CO2 escape. As long as no contaminants get in the brew will be fine, and once the reading is nice and low it can be bottled as usual. A number of kits do say to just loosely fit the lid, and brewing without an airlock is common
