Hi, word has got out that I'm making cider. I've been asked to make some sweet apple cider from one off ur magnum cider kits. Can u tell me what i need to do to make a nice sweet cider please.
Hi Dave1970, the Magnum Cider kits are pretty sweet already, so all you would need is the kit and some sugar. You could always have a little taste before you rack it, to see if its sweet enough for you. And if its not sweet enough you can add a sweetener to it to get it as sweet as you like. Probably won't need it though.
We have a wine sweetener made by Youngs specifically for this, in 50ml and 550ml which can be added to taste. You could always split the batch into two when you are ready to bottle it, bottle half as it is and then sweeten the rest to taste before bottling it to keep the other half happy!
Ok cheers. My pear cider is still fermenting, it's coming up to 6 days. Tommorow ,Friday is day 6, and it's still bubbling away. Do I just leave it to finish fermenting or rack it ? Is going over 6 or 7 days fermenting a good thing?
Hi Dave, sorry for the late reply. We are really busy here with christmas coming up. Youve probably drank most of it by now. Let us know how it turned out.

But I do think the cider I've bottled tastes better.
