Hydrometer

So whats the best way to transfer my  brew to the tube without contaminating or do I just dip the tube in?

To take the hydrometer reading you can do a couple of things, but whatever comes into contact with your brew must have been cleaned (ideally sterilised) first. If the vessel has a tap just draw a little off into the tube, otherwise dip the tube in and half fill it. An alternative is to clean the hydrometer and pop that straight into the vessel, it can be read in-situ if there is not too much froth or foam
