No kits we know of recommend to do this, although very rarely they say to add a little bit of the sediment, such as in the case of a cider. This is probably to make sure there is yeast in the bottles to create the secondary fermentation with the priming sugar, but you will usually have yeast suspended in the liquid which works with the priming sugars to create carbonation
