Adapting Pressure Barrel To Include A Pressure Gauge?

Has anyone modified the lid of their pressure barrel to include a 0-15 PSI pressure gauge?

I purchased the Wherry starter kit about a month ago which included the CO2 injector barrel cap below:

The problem is that I never really know when to add additional CO2 to the brew without pouring a pint and even then it seems a bit of a guessing game.

What I would ideally like is an additional value on the keg that I can connect a simple handheld pressure gauge to giving me an accurate reading.

After a little googling I think I may have found a solution using a short bike / car tyre valve. The photos below shows it in action…

Has anyone done this before, as I am concerned that after I drill the hole the seal may not be tight enough, leak, and result in spoiled beer?

Or

Can anyone point me in the direction of a barrel lid that I can buy which has this facility built in? After looking on eBay I can only find adaption kits for King Keg lids which are to large link

Cheers Chris
