Newbie - co2 amount in half barrel, second fermentation

I have brewed Norfolk Nog and am splitting it 50/50 bottled and barrel. I have primed the barrel with half the recommended sugar for a full barrel. Do I need to add CO2 as it will only be half a barrel in the second fermentation and there will be more space for air? Cheers Rich

You can add CO2 to help get it gassed up straight away (just one bulb), the brew will produce it's own from the priming sugar as it secondary ferments and will pressurise the barrel, but giving it a helping hand wont do it any harm, as some brews don't produce as much CO2 as others
