Sludgy Sediment??

Hi, I am new to home brewing & am starting with a Woodfordes Wherry Pack. I have just transferred my brew fom fermenter into barrel leaving a layer of light brown coloured sludge in the bottom of my fermenter. Is this how the sediment should look or have I done something wrong??

perfectly normal, jimmy69, did you siphon the brew from the fermenter to your barrel?

Agree with marvindj, the sediment will settle and form a sludge, try and transfer leaving as much of the sediment behind and without disturbing it for the clearest finished beer in your barrel

Yes I syphoned From the fermenter to the barrel & left as much of the sediment behind as possible. Thanks for the answers guys. I can rest easy now  :-)

dont throw away ,makes great bait for slugs and snail traps !!
