fermentation stopper

Hello chaps.
its been a while , but I have yet another ? I recently bought 2 tubs of fermentation stopper . Is this the same thing you get in wine kits , but they label it as stabilizer/preserver ,or is that something totally different & would I have to add campden tablets as well to make it a preserver .
I await your wisdom.
Cheers Russ.

Fermentation stopper is usually Potassium Sorbate which stops the fermentation, which is often called stabiliser in wine kits. It does the same thing. Potassium Sorbate, referred to as 'Fermentation Stopper' or 'Wine Stabiliser'  is used for stabilising and preventation of fermentation after bottling.

Campden tablets are used for preserving and sterilising. You usually add Campden tablets at the end of fermentation to help prevent oxidation and bacterial contamination which could potentially occur during the bottling and syphoning stage. Campden tablets can also be made into a sterlilising solution
