can you force carbonate using your cony keg kit with co2 cartridges?

hi all just was wondering if this was do able as i know you need to force a lot of pressure in for about 24hrs and will this give u that presure to force carbonate using the 16g canisters?

We have a couple of Cornelius Kegs here which are carbonated with just the 16g cartridges. We just pressurise them up nice and high, and move it around to mix, then top up again 24 hours later. The brews are usually nicely carbonated and of course even more portable with just the small cylinders rather than a large gas bottle
