New to this Hi all.

I have bought a full starter kit and maybe one of the first sales of Gluten Free German Lager kits.

I have followed all the instructions and I have now left it to ferment.The trouble is I have left out a plug of some sort from the tap on the barrel. I should of put the red plug in the tap on the inside.

The question is will this effect the brewing process? Thank You.

Hi platos, i've done this a few times myself. The little red thing is to keep sediment out of the tap, so all you need to do is run it of a bit, discard the sediment, then all should be fine.

Which way is best for the hole in the red thing to be pointing,top,bottom or side,im about to brew tonight for the 1st time and this has stopped me to come here lol

The manufacturers don't specify, so either face it to the side, or like we do face it upwards so it is as far as possible away from the sediment and means your finished brew will be clearer. If you face it up though you do need to draw off the first tiny amount and throw it away as it will collect a tiny bit of sediment as the brew ferments in the vessel
