Does anybody have any experience of brewing "Fraoch", or heather ale ?
From what I can gather it's a very old british (Scottish ?) ale, flavored with heather shoots.
As I undestand it, beer used to be flavored with all sorts of things, before hopped beer became common.
Its one of those idear I've been toying with for ages, but never got around to doing anything about.
I wonder if boiling some heather shoots and adding the liquor to a the liquid of a homebrew kit would taste any different ?
Any suggestions ?
