Docklands porter carbonation

Hi, I bottled my docklands porter on Friday night from a second 5 gal vessel with 3 oz of melted sugar, it's been at room temp for 4 days so I thought I'd pop one to check all is going ok.
My querie is why wasn't it very carbonated after 4 days, there was a bit of a hiss and a bit of head but it wasn't retained.
Will leaving it a lot longer increase carbonation, I've moved it to a cooler room now, should I move back to warm room temp?
Please tell me to stop worrying.
Cheers.

Hi Veralynn. Stop worrying! Leaving it longer will increase the fizziness, you should try and leave it at least 2 weeks before trying one, but even this is a little early. I would recommend leaving 4 weeks before trying as the smugglers tends to be a slow conditioner. It'll be fine in the cooler room now too, just have to be patient now and leave it to it. Hope this helps, let us know how it turns out.

Ok thanks for the reply, I'm a little impatient with the few brews I've done.
It is for Xmas so away it goes.
