I have recently puchased corks from HBOL but am unsure whether to soak them in a sterilising solution before using them for bottling, will it cause swelling etc. If they do need soaking how long should they be given?
Hi belch, with these particular wine corks they don't need soaking before use, but as with everything used in home brewing we do recommend that they are washed in a steriliser (such as VWP) in the same way as bottles, and then well rinsed with clean water to remove any residue. This will make sure there is no chance of contaminating your brew and make sure it tastes it's best!
