Initial fermentation temp too high..

Hi, I`m very new to the home brew scene and have attempted my first brew this week. After trying a little research on brew belts I was under the impression ( rightly or wrongly) that it would hold my fermenting bucket at around 24 degrees. all seemed good for the first few hours with my brew holding at at a steady 22 degrees. I checked on the brew this morning and the temp had risen to 28 degrees. Could you tell me if this has ruined my brew as I believe the yeast reacts quite badly to higher than the recommended temp...
