  If the reading is a a little high then you could try giving it a gentle stir to re-suspend the yeast and see if it will go any lower, a warm temperature will help it, and it may drop some more. When the temperature begins to drop it will increase fermentation times so give it a stir and see if that helps with a little warmth

  Thanks very much for the info, I will give it a try. Could you please tell me for future brewing at this time of the year, which is best a heater belt or heater tray. Regards, Covbaggie

  This is personal preference really, the belts are cheaper, we use heater trays because they are more convenient in some ways. We have written a feature on the pros and cons of each type which you may find useful, it is here on this link;

  Useful thanks because I have had brews made with Muntons Gold and all spraymalt where the Gravity has gone down a lot slower and also come to a standstill (frustratingly at 1.008 when I always aim at 1.006 minimum). In the end I bottled and when opened all the bottles were too lively. Next time I am in that situation I will stir it and see what difference it makes.
