Hi I've just started home brewing and my first attempt is youngs brewbuddy lager,it says in the instructions to leave in the fermenter for 4 to 6 days?is that long enough or do you think I should leave it longer? thanks in advance tonyk
Welcome, the fermentation time can really vary, partly on how warm it is. As a general guide 4 to 6 days at around 20 degrees C can be about right, but leaving it a little longer to be sure wont do any harm. If using a hydrometer then you can take readings to be sure when it has completed fermentation, if not then just make sure that all signs of bubbles rising through the liquid to the surface have finished, and leave it an extra day or so to be sure it has stopped before bottling/barrelling
