The addition of the carbonation drops (or any sugar) is what makes the secondary fermentation take place, as the sugars ferment and carbonate the brew. By leaving the bottles in a warm place for a few days it helps the process start quickly as the sugars dissolve. The alohol content will be increased a little as the sugars ferment, although it wont be a big increse as the amount of sugar is relatively small. If you needed to know more accurately the alcohol content, you could check the hydrometer reading once the bottles have conditioned and are ready for drinking and do the calculations in the usual way
