hy there i have just received a coopers pilners lager kit and been reading the instructions which say you can use spray malt instead of sugar what is the best to use for this kit any advise would be great thanks
Spraymalt is supposed to work better, but brewing sugar will do, and to be honest, even regular sugar will also work.
Beer League: 1. Young's - American Pale Ale 2. Bulldog Brews - Imperial Red Bad Cat 3. Young's - IPA 4. Young's - American Amber Ale 5. Bulldog Brews - Evil Dog Double IPA
As udorce says you can use various things, if you do go for spraymalt then spraymalt light is most commonly used, it will give more body, head and flavour:
For the Coopers Pilsner the manufacturers recommend to use 500g of spraymalt light and 300g of sugar, you can use 800g of sugars in any form though, all spraymalt, or all sugar - but sugar wont give the finished brew as much body, head or flavour as spraymalt (but sugar is cheaper)
I've done a coopers kit with 500g light hopped spraymalt and 300g of brewing sugar and it turned out great.
