Oak barrel used for cider

Hi guys,

I'm currently looking into purchasing an oak barrel to try some ciders in a different set up, but seem to be reading a great deal of pro's and con's for the use of it. Have any of you got experience/anything helpful to pass down? I'm also wondering how easy they are for general use.

Any comments and feedback would be most welcome! It's something I want to try, but for around £100 a pop i'm not fully sold yet!

Would an oak barrel take any pressure? I like the idea from a flavouring point of view though.

i don't think it would, but i'm happy with and prefer drinking flat cider. Not sure on how you end up cleaning these things as some only seem accessible from the bung
